How Beautiful

This song is a life long favorite of mine. It was recorded by Twila Paris in 1990 and I sang it in my bedroom over and over through the mid to late nineties. It was a cassette and I had to rewind it each time on my walkman so that took dedication! It just touched my heart over and over even as young as 9 years old. I loved thinking about how beautiful Christ is and the example He gave us when He came to earth willingly. Now as an adult, I listen to it through certain seasons of life on repeat. Today was one of those times when I played it three times while running to the post office! I let the tears escape and allow Jesus to bring the joy of the world to my heart. It overflows and just runs down my face. How beautiful are the people that God created, how beautiful are those who choose to forgive, who live purely, who share the Gospel, who take care of the orphans, widows and homeless. In the midst of the evil we live with here on earth, there are a lot of lights. God lights a lot of candles but we can get so distracted by the darkness that we forget how much light there is in the world. I pray that this touches your heart as it touches mine and even more than that. I pray that God reveals Himself to you in a new way and that you will look for the light around you in every day.
Take a few minutes of quiet time to yourself and listen to the song here:
How beautiful the hands that served
The wine and the bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty roads and the hill to the cross
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
Is the body of Christ
How beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sin and bore it instead
How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
Is the body of Christ
And as he lay down his life
We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as he died
Willing to pay the price
Willing to pay the price
How beautiful the radiant bride
Who waits for her groom with his light in her eyes
How beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure lives so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
Is the body of Christ
How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
Is the body of Christ
